More About LaRaine Kaye Interiors
LaRaine was born in Pocatello, Idaho and has been drawing pictures since she was old enough to hold a pencil. When she was five years old while listening to an art instructor from Brigham Young University's Art Department she drew a sketch of the speaker. When he saw the picture he was very impressed and told LaRaine's mother what a talented child she had.
For the next three years LaRaine recieved art lessons from Ilene Miller in Pocatello. At age eight The family moved to Long Beach, California where LaRaine was nominated "Class Artist" and assisted the teacher in the art class.
During her high school years she was the school newspaper's artist, as well as committee artist for school events. In high school she received many awards, and contests sponsored by her ward and stake in the L.D.S. Church, as well as third place in a national contest sponsored by Sears. She was also awarded an American Legion Scholarship for the arts.
During her young adult life she was trained in the art of window painting, and has been doing holiday window painting for over thirty years. As a commercial artist LaRaine has worked for various sign companies as an independant graphics artist, drawn caricatures for Disneyland in California, and the Lagoon in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has also been a court trial artist and done advertising design and layup in the newspaper industry.
She painted a portrait of a TV Evangelist, and the child of a county commissioner, as well as numerous private paintings of individuals. She has illustrated a children's book, and designed wood craft, quilt block, and paper doll patterns. She has also accomplished murals, commercial art, and scene painting in theaters, on semi trucks, and in restaurants, homes, and various businesses.
She has a degree in interior decorating, and over fifty years of experience in drawing, and painting.
